Famous for throwing one of the biggest parties, Calgary puts on its cowboy hat each year in July to host the self-titled ‘Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth’. This cosmopolitan city in Alberta is bright and busy with a blooming craft beer and culinary scene.
Head to the Calgary Tower for incredible views of the city, plus you can sit back and enjoy a steak in the revolving restaurant at the top of the tower. You will find an incredible glass platform when you reach the top – though not for the faint hearted, you can enjoy incredible views for miles across the city. You can expect to catch a glimpse of Fort Calgary, Stampede Park, Scotiabank Saddledome arena as well as the Bow and Elbow rivers.
If you’re visiting during the Calgary Stampede which is a 10-day Rodeo event held in July, then you can be sure of lots going on in the city. Throughout the city there will be live music and dancing events going on in the bars and streets surrounding the event.
Stephen Avenue Walk is Calgary’s main pedestrian shopping hub where you’ll find shops, restaurants and entertainment venues. Stop off at the Memorial Park, which is a sized down replica of Central Park and a really enjoyable little haven of peace and tranquillity.
