The ‘Windy City’, Chicago is famed for its soaring skyscrapers that frame the natural open spaces and inland beaches. ‘The Loop’ is the place to visit in downtown Chicago, home to world-renowned arts, attractions and entertainment.

Chicago has some great shopping hotspots where you’ll find plenty of choice on North Michigan Avenue, known as the ‘Magnificent Mile’. Head to the Water Tower Place which has over 100 stores or wander round the boutiques for some great gifts to take home.

Sports are popular here and you will be able to watch an American Football game as the city is home to the Bears or catch a baseball game at Wrigley Field when the Cubs are playing.

You will find a great selection of museums and galleries in Chicago with plenty of history to learn about and admire. Lincoln Park Zoo is a great day out for the children or head to the to of the Willis Tower for some fantastic views of the city that spans four states.

Enjoy the city’s famous deep-dish pizza or a Chicago Dog – the beef frankfurter and remember not to ask for tomato ketchup as that’s a huge no-no! For a more refined place to eat head to the north of the Loop area where you’ll have a great choice of classic eateries.

Chicago has four distinct seasons with the weather pleasant from spring through to autumn before turning cold during the winter season which generally brings snow but is great for the holiday period to enjoy some Christmas shopping in.
